Consisting of a round silver medal, with a hole punched through the top of the award and triple swivel rings for suspension from its period original replacement ribbon, the obverse bearing the tughra of Abdulmejid and dated AH 1271 (1854 AD), the reverse with a trophy of arms, the flags of France, Ottoman Turkey, Sardinia and Great Britain beyond and inscribed and dated Crimea 1855, marked 1st GDP JAS BIRCH
