Constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of a shield bearing a raised plane overlaid by a pair of crossed swords, above a date of 1942, topped by an inscription of DEMJANSK and dual log pillboxes flanked a German national eagle perched on top of a wreathed mobile swastika, affixed with all four reverse attachment prongs to a zink backplate with grey wool liner indicating Luftwaffe issue, retaining a partially intact
