T Gion Store is paved with Aji stone from Kagawa Prefecture, one of the worlds finest granites with a history dating back to the reconstruction of Iwashimizu Hachimangu Shrine in the 14th century. To reflect the stones unique texture in our clothing, we used the frottage technique to transfer its surface pattern onto katuragi (twill) fabric. This item is based on a 1940s coverall jacket from Taiga Takahashis archival collection.
