Constructed of silvered zink, on loop for suspension, the obverse bearing a raised depiction of a uniformed Gebirgsjger clutching a Karabiner 98k rifle and stick grenade, situated above an inscription of II. GEB. JG. RGT. 98, the reverse bearing a central inscription of BALKAN 1943 44, topped by Bosnian architecture and situated above an edelweiss, unmarked, measuring 36. 42 mm in diameter,
