The brass rim with a ring at the top was used to hang the glass from a metal hook on a fixture or to securely attach it to a chain. The bulging part at the top was designed to collect the heat and smoke from the flame, while the wide bottom covered the burner to protect the flame from drafts. The glass is hand blown and dates from 1800 1850. Very decorative to hang somewhere. The
