with loss of gilt finish to the silver base

In silver, a cross with red enamel and white enamel borders, the obverse medallion features red cross on white field, encircled by the inscription PATRIA AC HUMANITATI, a green enamelled wreath sits atop the arms denoting military division, the reverse medallion bears the dates 1864 1914, suspended from the original white and red striped ribbon, measures 37. 00 mm (w) x 47. 9 mm (h inclusive of integral ring), unmarked, enamels
