After defeating Yoshioka Ichien, Musashi began referring to himself as an Enmei ryu practitioner. By age 24, he had mastered the "Hyodokyo" style of writing. In his later years, Musashi renamed his style Niten Ichi ryu. Although the Enmei ryu techniques spread in Nagoya, where Musashi stayed for three years around age 50, they were thought to have
