ROXBURGH (ANCIENT) - Tartans beginning with 'T' he grand expanse of RannochThought to be pre 1850. taken from a silk swatch in Patterson's pattern book. Source given as M Castro the handloom weaver. Now generally accepted as the District tartan rather than the newer alternative Roxburgh. Roxburgh is in the heart of the Borders region of Scotland. The tartan may have been in production before 1850, and is now woven commercially for the first time in perhaps a century and a half.
